Before Your Wax Service
Let it grow
Hair must be 3-4 weeks of growth from last shave. Anything shorter, will need to reschedule. Do not trim, as this will make hair removal more difficult. I'll take care of that for you!
Drink Up
Make sure you are very HYDRATED. The body releases the hair much smoother and creates a less painful experience.
Exfoliate
Exfoliate the focus area at least 48 hours prior to your service. While in the shower, use a brush, glove or cloth for 30 seconds to remove dead skin cells surrounding the hair follicles. This will ensure there are no trapped hairs under the surface.
don't do it
- Avoid applying moisturizer, oil, lotion, gel, deodorant or similar skin products prior to service. This can create a barrier between the wax and skin.
- Avoid tanning up to 3 days before service as this can cause irritation and lead to lifting of the skin.
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine consumption before your service as it can lead to increased sensitivity.
take the pain away
Feel free to take directed amount of ibuprofen (such as Advil or Motrin) 30 to 45 minutes prior to service to help control pain and inflammation. Avoid taking Aspirin as this can thin the blood.
Keep it Clean & Casual
Please shower at least an hour before your appointment. This will help open up your pores and soften the skin. Wear a clean, loose-fitting and comfortable outfit.
After Your Wax Service
FOR THE NEXT 24-48 HOURS, it is imperative to FOLLOW THE AFTER CARE BELOW TO PREVENT ANY REACTIONS.
- Keep area clean. Take extra caution when touching the area after serviced to avoid any bacterial infections.
- Avoid additional heat after waxing: (hot showers, baths, sunbeds, tanning, sun exposure, saunas & steam rooms)
- Avoid excessive perspiration: (sports, gym, exercise classes & any outdoor activities)
- Do not apply scented moisturizers, make-up, deodorants, perfumed or tanning products.
- You may apply an aloe-based gel, aquaphor, witch hazel, cortisone cream, ice pack or cold compress to help soothe skin and subdue any inflammation or redness.
- Use Anti-Bacterial soap if there is any type of reaction.
- Avoid swimming pools, lakes and oceans.
- Avoid tight and restrictive clothing.
AFTER 48 HOURS
- Exfoliate at least 3 times a week (every other day) either in the shower by using a brush, glove or cloth for 30 seconds to remove dead skin cells surrounding the hair follicles. Or I highly recommend PFB Vanish + Chromabright skin lightener & bump fighter. This product will prevent ingrown hairs & hyperpigmentation.
- I recommend "Desert Essence- Tea Tree Oil Ointment" daily. It contains Tea Tree Oil, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Lavender Oil. All these ingredients work to stop the growth of bacteria, soothe the skin & helps avoid any skin irritations.
- Moisturize daily and stay hydrated.
- Do not shave in between waxes, to avoid disturbing hair cycles.
